Maria Mifsud

Maria Mifsud is the first Maltese composer to study at the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Valencia.  She graduated with a Masters Degree in Scoring for Film, Television and Video Games after being awarded a scholarship.  Maria is also a holder of a Master’s Degree in Teaching and Learning Music.  Recently, one of Maria’s piano compositions was chosen for inclusion in the Trinity College London Piano Syllabus.  Maria has received music composition awards in various international music contests including the Golden Key Piano Composition Competition, the UK Songwriting Contest and Song of the Year.  Her composition ‘Checkmate’ was an award-winning Film Score in The Indie Gathering International Film Festival, Hudson Ohio.

Maria has performed as a pianist with the Bursa State Symphony Orchestra from Turkey.  She is involved as a pianist with local singers by performing during special occasions.  She has conducted and professionally recorded her compositions with film orchestras at AIR Studios (London), Palau de les Arts (Valencia) and East Connection (Budapest).  She is a resident composer at the Malta International Piano Competition which includes her music as a compulsory piece in the festival.  Her works have been featured in film festivals, broadcasted nationally on Television Malta and RTK Radio.  Maria is a holder of a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Composition, a Postgraduate Certificate in Education and three music diplomas namely the LMusLCM, ATCL and AMusTCL.
