Hello, my name is Maria Wilson and I am a professional guitarist and drummer from the Harrisburg - Hershey Pa. area . I have been both performing and teaching professionally since 1992. Music and teaching music is my passion and my life. Teaching music to students is what defines whom I am and it brings joy to my students and they love what they learn and reaching there musicals goals. I currently teach a lot online , State St Academy of Music ,Harrisburg Pa.The Perfect 5th Musical Arts Center,Mechanicsburg Pa . and my home studio in the Harrisburg- Hershey area.
Maria has 7 original music CDs and has toured the East Coast opening up for music legends Roger McGuinn, Michael McDonald, Livingston Taylor, and John Sebastian. She has has been the featured musician at the Belmont Race Track, Atlantic City Beach Festival, and the Philadelphia Folk Festival. Maria is a six time scholarship winner to Duquesne University's Guitar and Bass Workshop and School. She has also studied with guitar instructors from Peabody Conservatory, Towson University, and Elizabethtown College.As a professional drummer and auxiliary percussionist Maria has studied Aaron Walker, Jim Ebersole and the very well known Jim Donovan from Rusted Root. Maria plays auxiliary and hand percussion for Ridgeway Community Church and is a freelance guitarist , and percussionist in Central Pa. playing for festivals, private parties, concerts , weddings and special occasions.
In addition, she holds a music marketing and music technology diploma from the Harrisburg Area Community College. Maria has also had articles written on her music in Self-Employment Magazine, Wood and Steel, The York Dispatch and The Patriot News. In addition she has performed on the River 97.3 and World Café in Philadelphia. Maria in November of 2019 released her latest album "Epiphany Rising"which is being featured on Spotify , Amazon Music , Apple Music ,Google Play and has been signed a contract with RDSD Publishing for TV and Film Projects.
I am on the Lay Advisory Committee for Harrisburg Area Community College Music Industry and Audio Engineering Programs . I am a 2006 and 2016 graduate of the college in both programs.

Each student is different. I first find out what there goals are and what genres of music they were interested in learning . I give the foundations and fundamentals to help them reach there musical goals. I use material from Musicians Instititute, Berklee College of Music, National Guitar Workshop and materials I saved from Duquesne University.I also incorporate You Tube and online learning . I am currently doing a lot of online teaching.
