About

Martin Moretto is a versatile guitarist from Argentina who has resided in New Orleans for 5 years and in the New York metropolitan area for the 20 years prior. Throughout his career, he has performed and recorded with an array of diverse professional music projects. He holds a Master of Music degree from New Jersey City University and a Bachelor of Music from William Patterson University.

Martin has recorded and collaborated with a myriad of musicians in the New York and New Orleans music scenes, including the Latin Grammy Award-winning Fernando Otero Group, 20th-century music guitar ensemble Bodies Electric, and the legendary Argentine group Alas. He released a record of his original contemporary Latin jazz music and arrangements in 2011, titled The Martin Moretto Quintet.

Martin was a faculty member for 10 years with the City University of New York at LaGuardia Community College where he taught guitar. He currently teaches guitar at the Popular and Commercial Music program at the Loyola University of New Orleans.

I tailor my teaching style to the student's needs. I believe not everyone learns the same way, having said that I have a personal methodology that involves learning music through inspiration and play.

If you want to expand your techniques on the guitar then we might use repertoire to learn a specific technique, for instance, if you want to expand your hand picking technique we might use a song by an established artist to learn a new hand/picking technique, or if your goal is to improve soloing in a particular style, we might use a combination of scale/learning and learning the solo of an artist of your choice.

The same is true if your goal is to learn more theory, we can do all of the above plus talk about how the music is structured from a theoretical point of view.

Martin holds a Master of Music degree from New Jersey City University and a Bachelor of Music from William Patterson University.
