Mary Annab
About
Hi! I'm Mary-Margaret. I began learning music at a young age, and have been playing both cello and piano for more than 15 years. I began teaching piano when I was 15 and taught for a few years before going to university, where I received a BFA in Theatre Production. I have toured both nationally and internationally as both a strings and vocal performer, and currently, I teach voice and piano at a local conservatoire. I have performed in Europe, the United States, and across Canada, and worked in both the UK and Canada. I always strive to improve and so, just like you, I take lessons, oftentimes using the new information I learn with my own students. I love teaching and I'm so excited to see how you grow!
Teaching Style
My teaching style is all about you. I use the first few lessons to figure out what type of material and teaching you respond to, and work with you from there. For example, if you find multiple instructions overwhelming, we'll focus on one detail at a time until you feel confident with each of them. If you'd rather have all the information at once, that's the way I give it to you! Overall I believe music should be a fun learning experience. I want you to fall in love with it the same way I did - or at the very least, enjoy it.
I do expect commitment from my students. I understand that things happen, and am willing to be flexible - but if you aren't willing to do the work then it makes teaching very difficult!
