About

Matt has been playing the piano since 2001, where he took lessons as a youth from his local music store in his hometown of Germantown, Tennessee. Here he was introduced to the wonderful worlds of classical, rock, pop, & jazz piano. He later on graduated from The Rudi E. Scheidt School of Music in Memphis, Tennessee with an emphasis in classical performance, but continues to enjoy listening to and playing all types of music.

After graduating from music school, Matt moved across the country to Los Angeles to collaborate with musicians and work in the music industry. Surrounded by the constant inspiring sounds L.A. has to offer, he has had the opportunity to play, compose, and learn from some of the world’s finest musicians. He is currently based in Nashville, where he aims to develop his sound as a pianist and performer.

As a teacher, I am committed to encouraging individuals to learn and develop their craft to evolve into beautiful musicians. One of my favorite aspects of teaching younger individuals is introducing new sounds and the world of music they are not aware of. I love showing new music that grabs your ear and doesn’t let go. My passion is also in teaching adults, showing that it is never too late to learn the piano (it’s not too late, I promise!). Being an adult learner myself, we can easily achieve tangible goals, using versatile tools that can be applied anywhere for years to come! It’s never too late to learn the piano, and the ultimate goal is to have fun!

BFA in Music with a concentration in Piano Performance, Magna cum laude from The Rudi E. Scheidt School of Music at the University of Memphis.
