Hi! My name is Matt Bishop, I am a Grammy nominated producer/engineer/mixer based in Los Angeles, CA. I have Worked on records ranging from Taylor Swift and One Direction to U2 and The Killers. Over the course of the last 10 years, I have learned what works and what doesnt work when it comes to recording, mixing, and producing records.
Teaching Style
My teaching style is straight to the point and specifically based on student goals. Whether you play an instrument just for fun and want to learn how to record your music like a pro or want to learn how to make your band sound radio worthy, we will achieve your goals and allow your music to reach the wider audience it deserves. A common myth is thinking you need expensive microphones and pre-amps or fancy plugins to sound like the pros do. The truth is, you just need to know how to properly use what is available to you. I will teach you how to get the most out of your equipment and take your recordings to new heights with simple and easy to understand information.
Curriculum
Logic/Pro Tools DAW:
We will access your needs as a musician/voiceover artist/sound designer and directly apply that to the software you are using. Many of the stock plug-ins that come with popular recording software are very powerful tools capable of getting your sounds to professional quality.
Microphone Theory:
Everyone knows what a microphone does, but very few people know how to use them to their fullest potential. Even with relatively inexpensive gear, you can get amazing results. I will teach you the proper placement of microphones and setting the gain level appropriately and everything else necessary in getting the perfect sound.
