About
Hi I'm Max and I'm a guitarist, singer-songwriter, and teacher based in Brooklyn, NY. For the last ten years I have been touring across the US and abroad with rock and pop artists, fronting my own band on many a New York City stage, playing guitar for several Broadway musicals, and sharing my passion and knowledge with students all along the way. I've played many major US music festivals including The Governors Ball, Lollapalooza, and Bonnarroo, and have opened for great acts like Jack White and Bleachers. I currently play as a guitar sub for Hadestown on Broadway, winner of Best Musical at the Tony's in 2019. As a teacher, I feel passionate about empowering my students to find their own creative voice through music. Whether you want to develop an understanding of pop songwriting and become great at learning music by ear, express yourself through lead guitar improvisation, or gain a complete knowledge of the instrument and music theory, I can help you zero in on and achieve your goals on guitar.
I like to tailor lessons to a student's particular interests and goals. I myself first learned guitar but lesrning classic rock and blues so I like to teach through that same method, whether it means looking at my student's new favorite song, or a classic tune that I can recommend to be instructive of whatever musical goal or concept we are aiming for. When it comes to younger and beginner students, I direct lessons to cover the basics of guitar as well as general music theory knowledge that will help us on our way.

For the most part our lesson materials will depend on the student but for beginners and/ or students particularly interested in sight reading, I will recommend appropriate books.
