About

I began playing the violin at the age of 11. My first violin instruction was in Reno, Nevada with Valerie Nelson of the Reno Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra. Since the late 90's, I have played in over a dozen symphony orchestras, soloing with the Orchestra of Southern Utah, the Southwest Symphony, and the Symphony of the Canyons. I was concertmaster of the DSU Orchestra, DSU Chamber Orchestra, and the Symphony of the Canyons. I played for 3 seasons at the Tuacahn Center for the Arts in shows including Aladdin, Little Mermaid, The Wizard of Oz, and Annie. I have also participated in numerous masterclasses with world-renowned violinists including Ralph Matson, Frédéric Moreau, Alice Lourdes, Misha Rosenker, and Jenny Oaks Baker. From 2008 to 2014, I studied the violin and the viola at Dixie State University in Saint George, Utah with Paul Abegg, PhD.

I have been teaching since 2006, and love problem solving and helping people with accomplishing their goals and making breakthroughs!

My teaching style is laid back. I don't believe in pressuring students, as this generally leads to their analytical faculties shutting down. Instead, I like to teach students how to approach the various problems they will inevitably face while learning to read, interpret, and perform music. If a student is properly taught how to analyze and correct their own negative habits and mistakes, they will be better prepared to make more immediate progress when facing a problem.
