Melissa lives in Stellenbosch, South-Africa where she consults, writes and produces at Sunset Recording Studios, a world-class studio set in the Cape Winelands.

This year she celebrates 20 years in the music industry, working as composer, session musician, educator, and performer. She is a renowned musical director and jazz pianist and has performed all over the world.
Melissa is an award-winnig songwriter and composer and she is currently completing her Ph.D. in Jazz composition and creativity research.
She mentors songwriters and composers and currently teaches jazz piano and improvisation at the University of Stellenbosch.

Melissa can teach any of the following options, or a combination tailored specifically to the student's needs.
Songwriting and/or composition:
Melissa mentors songwriters and composers in the recording studio as well as in a workshop environment. The lessons will be designed to fulfill your creative needs. She conducts a free 15-minute assessment and together you will decide on the best route forward.
Jazz and/or pop piano:
Melissa has taught all levels and ages of jazz and pop piano students. A 15-minut free assessment will result in your customized lesson plan.
Musical direction and production skills:
Tips and tricks on communication in the studio and throughout your project. Project managements skills for musicians. How to get the best out of your team. Working with new people. Doing the research for your project. Learning new computer programs like Logic Pro or Sibelius. Tips and tricks for your production studio. How to write sheet music for your project.
Audition and gig preparation:
Melissa is skilled in many genres of music and can help you prepare for that challenging gig or audition.
