Meredith Moore is an international musician with a diverse and prolific career as a horn player and music educator. Meredith is the former Associate Principal Horn with the Hawaii Symphony and currently a freelance musician in New York City.

As an in-demand freelance orchestral musician, Meredith has played with the London Symphony Orchestra, Philharmonia Orchestra, English Chamber Orchestra, Royal Scottish National Orchestra, Scottish Ballet, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra along with numerous other orchestras across the U.K., Europe and the U.S. She has played principal horn with the BBC Philharmonic, Bath Philharmonia, Oxford Philharmonia and the Symphony Orchestra of India. As a soloist, Meredith has performed Richard Strauss's Horn Concerto no. 1 with the Helios Chamber Orchestra and was the winner of the 2007 International Horn Society Northeast Concerto Competition. Meredith has given solo recitals at Spectrum (NYC) and ShapeShifter Lab (Brooklyn) which included numerous commissioned pieces for the horn and natural horn. 

A specialist on the Classical and Baroque natural horns, Meredith has performed with the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, Classical Opera Company, The Amadè Players, Norwegian Wind Ensemble (as guest principal) and numerous times as a soloist in Bach’s B Minor Mass. She has also appeared as a soloist with the Amadè Players performing Mozart's Horn Concerto no.2 K.417. From 2010-2011 Meredith was a fellow with the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment after which she became the founder and director of Evolution, a period instrument chamber ensemble. With Evolution, Meredith recorded Mozart’s Horn Quintet and gave recitals at the King’s Place (London) and the Brighton Early Music Festival along with numerous educational workshops across the UK.

Meredith’s discography includes Prokofiev’s Romeo and Julietwith Valery Gergiev and Der Freischutz with Sir Colin Davis on the LSO Live label. She has also recorded for Naxos, Chandos Records and the BBC Music Magazine Collection. Meredith can be heard on the soundtracks to Thor (2011) and Brave (2012), on the song Learn Me Right with the band Mumford and Sons and on the 2012 UK Christmas no.1 single He Ain’t Heavy. Currently Meredith is freelancing in the New York City area, and can be heard regularly on the Broadway shows Phantom of the Opera and The Lion King. In the past,  she was Horn 1 on the  Les Miserables North American Tour and was part of Josh Groban's 2015 Stages Tour. 

In addition to performing, Meredith is a dedicated music educator. She served on the faculty at the New England Music Camp and with the Stamford Young Artist Philharmonic. and teaches after school at P.S 205 in the Bronx.  In London, Meredith collaborated on educational workshops with LSO Discovery, Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, Open Academy and Guildhall Connect. She has held a private studio of Horn, Trumpet, Piano and Music Theory students since 2008. She has taught students of all ages and abilities with a 100% success rate on ABRSM Grade Exams.

Born and raised in Connecticut, Meredith emigrated to the U.K. in 2007 for studies at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and the Royal Academy of Music and ended up living and working in the U.K. for another 8 years. Meredith is currently residing in Brooklyn, NY.

I am a qualified music educator with experience teaching in individual and group settings. I am available for private one-on-one lessons, coaching, and for performance and audition prep. I strive to create a friendly and non-judgmental environment for students. I am a strong believer in setting goals with students and I strive to give pupils the tools and skills needed to achieve such goals.
