Michael Bibby
About
I've been a full time teaching & gigging musician since 2002; I primarily gigged as a lead guitarist with a top 40 cover band in the Chicago 'burbs, but I've also gigged Irish folk/punk, funk, prog, metal, & experimental/electronic/noise/art.
I've also built & modded solidbody instruments, developed music education software,
been a guitar tech, recording studio engineer.
I've played Reggie's with "Sad Monster Party" and "Doctor Death Crush", The Metro with "Radiant Devices", opened for The Misfits with "The PastAways", played Chicago street fests with "Burnside & Hooker".
Teaching Style
My teaching style is very conversational and customized to the students; it's primarily focused on assessing where a student "is" and where they "want to be", then building paths between those points using custom drills, and assisting their understanding of their instrument, sound, perception, music technology, or anything else I feel like would be useful.
Curriculum
I primarily use Hal Leonard method books; Mel Bay is fine too.
