Michael Duryea
About
Michael Duryea has been a musician from an early age. After taking piano lessons since age 6, Michael attended Grove City College in Pennsylvania where he earned a Bachelor's of Music majoring in Piano Performance with a minor in Organ Performance. From there he proceeded to the University of Notre Dame, where he received a Masters Degree in Sacred Music, Choral Conducting. He now plays organ and piano and conducts adult and children's choir at St. Bernadette Catholic Church in Springfield, VA full time in addition to teaching private lessons.
Teaching Style
Michael's teaching style is holistic and diverse, approaching the student individually with a desire to help them acheive their goals. Music is very personal, and every musician has their own unique abilities, interests, and styles that suit them best. At the same time, there is a body of knowledge that benefits every student, no matter what style they choose. Michael hopes to offer both the personal attention and the necessary discipline and instruction required in order to achieve great results.
Curriculum
I draw from a very wide variety of lesson materials, and wish to discuss this in person with each individual student.
