Hi my name is Mick!
I'm an Irish musician from Wexford, Ireland. I have been playing music since an early age and I have been teaching for 10 of those years.
I attended the Dublin Conservatory of Music & Drama. I am also grade 5 ABRSM in music theory & piano. I have been teaching 1 to 1 and group classes in mainly Irish music but I have also taught many other genres that crossover into Irish music. I have taught in many schools over the years including: Danescastle School of Music, Taghmon N.S., Wexford Comhltas branch & my own private lessons.
I am a member of 'The Kilkennys'. We are an Irish folk band and we have traveled to 20+ countries playing music for many years including U.S.A, India, U.K, Germany, Holland, Denmark and of course Ireland. I have played in hundreds of venues from big to small over the many years touring including: 3 arena Dublin, The National Concert Hall Dublin, Zwarte Cross Holland , Skagenfestival Denmark, Balve Hoele Germany.
I teach all levels.
Beginner: Scales,Tuning, Basic techniques, Fun easy songs & tunes to enable you to perform with other musicians which ultimately is the end goal.
Intermediate: Advanced scales & rhythms, Advanced techniques appropriate to the instrument, Practice, Intricate tunes & melodies enabling you to sit into an Irish session and play openly with others.
Advanced: Combining all previous learned techniques and explaining how to use them and how they work in the music. How to improvise around the music & getting the best out of your ability.
