Michelle Purnomo
About
Michelle is a 21-year-old Indonesian pianist. Growing up in a musical family, she has been playing the piano since four years old.
She has graduated from Bachelor of Music (Honours) from Royal College of Music-Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, with First Class Honours, and as the Best Graduate Award 2024 of the Bachelor of Music (Honours). She is also currently attending Master’s of Music Performance in Royal College of Music, London
She also holds Licentiate of the Royal Schools of Music, with distinction, from The Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music Piano Performance Examination, and Licentiate of Trinity College London, with distinction.
She has been under the guidance of Dr. Nicholas Ong, Mr. Hendrata Prasetia, and Ms. So Kim Wie during her piano journey.
She is privileged to have received NAFA Scholarship throughout her Bachelor degree, which is the highest financial aid offer in the school, and NAFA Talent Development Programme Award throughout AY 2020/2021 (Diploma) to AY 2023/2024 (Bachelor).
Committed to music since a young age, Michelle has been participating in many competitions and concerts, including:
• Gold Prize Award in Asia International Piano Academy & Festival with Competition 2024 at Seoul, South Korea
• Gold Prize Award in San Francisco Bay Pianofest & International Piano Competition 2023
• 2nd Prize Winner (1st Prize not awarded) of the 13th Lucien Wang Piano Competition 2022
• 2nd Prize of International Maestro Piano and Strings Competition 2018 and performance at Carnegie Hall, New York
• 1st Prize in Hong Kong Asia Open Piano Competition 2018

Teaching Style
Coming from a family full of musicians and music teachers, Michelle has had many teaching experiences, ranging from beginner to advanced. A lot of students mention that Michelle is a really fun but also serious teacher. Michelle always aims to let students reach their highest potentials, and constantly pushing students to be active in performance, examination, and competitions.
