Tokyo-born Momo Sakura started playing the piano at the age of nine, then flute studies at the age of ten. She studied at the Tokyo College of Music and gave her first solo recital in Perth, Western Australia.

She then decided to migrate to Australia in 1996. Became an accredited interpreter with NAATI.

She taught flute in a number of schools in Perth, including St. Hilda's Anglican school for girls and formed a guitar and flute duo with Simon Rovis-Hermann called Silver Strings. They released their first album Awakening and went on concert tour of Japan in 2001.

Soon after that, she gave up full-time teaching to pursue a new path of music writing. She has written more than 400 titles including for solo, camber music and orchestra.

In 2007, she released two brand-new albums Very Japanese and Kimono flute. They include varieties of Japanese traditional music as well as her original compositions.

In 2007, she wrote her original work “the Snow woman” based on the story of “Yuki onna” by Yakumo Koizumi. The premiere performance was conducted by Consulate General of Japan in Perth.

In January 2009, her “kojo no tsuki” performance was used for TV documentary programme “Bombers moon” PBS Network, United states.

My highest priority is to make sure every student is having a fun and precious time learning the wonderful instrument, Flute.

I have over 10 years of experience teaching a wide range of styles.

As a composer, I have a wide range of originally arranged duo pieces, which make the lessons more fun and interesting.
