Monica Millar

I’m a very experienced teacher. I have been teaching singing for about 30 years. I studied jazz at the Conservatory of Amsterdam, graduated in 1992 and in 2005 I became Certified Master of Estill Voice Training (EVT). I’ve studied with Kerrie Obert (Ohio) and Steven Chicurel (Orlando) who are both professors in speech therapy and also founders of the Estill Voice Training Method.

I’ve been teaching at a musical academy DAPA (Dutch Academy of Performing Arts) for 10 years where I learned a lot about the musical theatre repertoire. I’ve also taught at the famous musical Tarzan (Stage Entertainment Productions, Joop van den Ende) where I was the vocal coach of the boys who played the little Tarzan. I’ve always been an entrepreneur, working at several music schools but also at my home where I have a studio. At this moment I’m also teaching at a music school close to Rotterdam, it’s called “To Be”. Regularly I visit Curacao (Caribbean) where I also have a lot of students. 

Since 12 years I own a foundation called “Kidsbizz” which supports very talented children doing professional performances, we support the children with professional material (wireless microphones and such) and professional vocal coaching and lessons in performance skills. 

I also have been teaching piano for 15 years because I gained a lot of experience as a singing piano player for more than 20 years in the entertainment industry mostly in pop and South American music. As a singer I performed merely with orchestra’s (musical orchestras like “Timbre Divers and Musical Souvenir) and jazz/Latin bands (Saskia Laroo, Caribbean Express).

I’m also a singer/songwriter and I’ve recorded some own compositions on CD. And one of my songs is on Spotify, and other songs are going to be uploaded soon. You can find me when you search for “Monica Millar”.
