About

Monique grew up with and through music. At age 7, she joined her first choral ensemble, where her passion first began to grow. Monique quickly found herself involved in a large number of chamber choirs and musical theater performances, beginning to write original songs, as well as being gifted her first guitar (that she didn’t have to share with her father). Noting her mother’s as her favorite voice and her father’s as her favorite band, it is fair to say Monique comes by her musical inclination honestly. This inclination, turned into a fierce passion, has resulted in a life dedicated to music and all things surrounding it.

In her formative years, Monique spent her time expanding her abilities as a musician. She involved herself in local and provincial performance opportunities, songwriting programs and conferences. She also took professional voice lessons from her mentor and friend, (the late) Canadian Tenor, Peter Collins. In deciding next steps after growing up, and knowing where musical magic had been made throughout history, Monique packed up her life and moved to Nashville, Tennessee.

While in Nashville, Monique lived blocks away from the famous Honky Tonks of Broadway and recording studios on Music Row. She spent hours behind her guitar and keyboard, creating what she considers to be some of her best works. At the same time, Monique attended Berklee College of Music Online, specializing in Vocal Technique and Songwriting, as well as Music Business and Marketing. Monique also found herself working on Music Row with the performing rights organization ASCAP (The American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers), where she says she felt inspired by getting to walk the streets and halls of music legends. Her years in Nashville also saw the release of her first single, You Always Loved Me More. A song with jazz influences, written during her time exploring different music styles and developing what would become her personal style as an artist. Raised with primarily rock and country music roots, Monique quickly found her footing in singer/songwriter style music, taking inspiration primarily from pop and soft rock, including musicians such as Billy Joel, Gabrielle Aplin, and Brandi Carlisle.

After living in Nashville, Monique spent some years traveling through North America and across Europe, eventually moving to Seattle, Washington. Inspired by the west coast lifestyle, her recent adventures, and her new city, it is here she continues to create and share music, while also teaching professional voice lessons and continuing her education through vocal advancement programs that focus on further education for voice teachers.

Today Monique is expanding her work and presence in the music industry. She is excited to be opening up online lessons and taking on new voice students, all while working toward the release of her debut EP, which will feature a handful of Monique’s original songs. For sneak peeks of her new music and updates on her EP, you can subscribe to her email list, as well as follow her on social media.

Monique focuses on creating fun and personalized lesson plans for your vocal development. She designs each lesson based on your abilities and goals, making necessary changes as you become more ezperienced. The beginning of each lesson is devoted to vocal technique and theory. After this, you will practice applying these new skills to song. Each lesson is guaranteed to build upon your abilities as a vocalist. All lessons are currently held online through Zoom.
