About

My name is Morgan Byers, and I am a very positive and encouraging piano, cello, and music production instructor. I love helping people reach their goals, and seeing my students succeed in what they are passionate about.

My teaching experience includes running my own program of private cello, piano, and composition lessons for many recurring students for the past 7 years. I was also hired as an instructor for a local art program teaching weekly music lessons.

I began attending private violin lessons at age 5, before taking up keyboard instruments (piano, synthesizers, and organ) and cello (acoustic and electric). As a composer and producer, I have had the opportunity to score multiple films, work and study under many LA and New York industry professionals, and collaborate with top performers.

Some of my fondest musical experiences include:

-Cellist/keyboardist in the Youth Symphony of Southern Oregon (2014-2017. Co-principle cellist in 2017).

-Cellist for multi-instrumentalist and composer Bob Magnuson, providing remote recordings and collaborating often in the writing process (Current).

-Cellist for Robert Bannon’s upcoming album “From A Distance” (2020).

-Electric/acoustic cello performer for the Jefferson State Flixx Festival (2016, 2017, 2018).

-Producer/arranger for singer/youtuber Avonmora

-Attended the Hollywood Music Workshop In Austria and studied under film composer Joe Kraemer (Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation)

As a teacher, it’s important to me to keep things fun and easy-going, while setting realistic goals so you can feel empowered and accomplished every step of the way.

I focus mainly on written music examples and playing notated music, and later work on concepts of improvisation and composition (if you are interested!).

I start my beginner students off with a course like "Bastien Piano Basics" or "All for Strings: Cello Book 1"  so you can get a firm grasp of the fundamentals, and then introduce skill-appropriate repertoire that we can pick out together.  I tailor each lesson to the student, since every musician is unique!

I start my beginner adult piano students on "Alfred's Adult Piano Course: Level One."

I start my younger beginner piano students on "Bastien Piano Basics: Primer Level."

I start my beginner cello students on "All for Strings: Cello Book 1"
