Nate Berry

Hello! My name is Nate and I have been teaching lessons for 7 years, including 2 years on Lessonface. I am a Trombonist in The United States Army Field Band in Washington D.C. and I have studied under Timothy Higgins, Principal Trombone of the San Francisco Symphony, Peter Ellefson, former Principal at the Seattle Symphony, Denson Paul-Pollard, Bass Trombonist of the Metropolitan Opera, Adam Luftman, Principal Trumpet of the San Francisco Ballet and Opera, and Carson Keeble, 2nd Trombone at the Seattle Symphony. I have worked all around the U.S. in my career, including recording 2 albums, 1 movie soundtrack, a Disney commercial, and performed with countless orchestras like the San Francisco Symphony and the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. Holding degrees from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music and the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, I specialize in intermediate to advanced Trombone students, but also teach a multitude of other music related topics. I teach all levels of students, from beginners to Advanced High School and College Students. I am a firm believer that each student learns in different ways and at different paces. It is imperative to me that each student receives a personalized teaching plan, and equal amounts of attention and care from their professor. I teach students to advance their technical proficiency through the practice of chasing artistry and developing a musical personality. I also emphasize skills that a student must have if they desire to be a musician: Organization, Healthy Self-Critique, How to set goals and achieve them, and how to interact with colleagues professionally. I believe that through these practices, and with proficient practice on technical skill, each student will be a musician that is ready to market themselves and their product upon leaving my studio.
