About

Nate Gardner is the second trombone of the Salisbury Symphony and principal trombone of Appalachia: Southeast Wind Symphony. He is a licensed educator in South Carolina with a degree in music education from Bob Jones University. Currently, Nate is pursuing a masters degree in trombone performance from the Jacobs school of music at Indiana University. Nate has a large passion for teaching students of all ages and developing a curriculum for each student to meet their specific needs.

Nate is an active conductor in wind ensembles and orchestras around the Southeast. This past summer he was an apprentice conductor at Sewanee Summer Music Festival, studying with Dr. Gene Moon. Nate's conducting teachers include Dr. Eric Smedley, and Dr. Bruce Cox.

In his free time, Nate enjoys watching baseball and cheering on the Washington Nationals, working in the family wood shop, and smoking Carolina style BBQ with friends.

My teaching style is simply focused on growth. Each student is different and I tailor instruction towards the individuals goals and needs as a player. I believe for growth to happen that I need to get to know the student and their goals.

Each student will receive individually tailored lessons, individual materials (as needed) sent to them, and also an open line of communication. I am always willing to answer questions as they come up in between lessons.
