Navdha Garg
About
I’m a Delhi-based vocalist and dedicated music educator specializing in Hindustani classical and Bollywood music, with more than 10 years of teaching experience. I have worked with diverse groups of Indian and NRI students helping learners of all ages.
Professionally, I have taught with Shankar Mahadevan Academy (2024–2025) and Spardha School of Music (2021–2024), and previously at Deep Memorial Public School (2017–2021).
Alongside teaching, I have performed bhajans at renowned venues such as ISKCON and Akshardham Temple, and presented Bollywood music at popular stages including Select Citywalk, DLF Mall of India, and Pacific Mall. I have also actively participated in karaoke showcases organized by Mayoor School of Music.
I hold a Sangeet Visharad (Grade 6) certification from Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya Mandal (2016–2022). In addition to teaching, I mentor students for formal examinations under this institution, ensuring they gain both recognized qualifications and well-rounded musical proficiency.
Teaching Style
My teaching style is simple, friendly, and deeply student-focused. I believe music should feel joyful and comfortable rather than stressful. I focus on building strong fundamentals in swara (pitch), laya (rhythm), and voice culture, while keeping the learning process easy to understand and practical for daily riyaaz. Since every student learns differently, I adapt my approach based on their pace, age, and goals—whether they are learning for personal interest, stage performance, or formal examinations. My aim is not just correct singing, but confident and expressive singing.
Trained in the Guru–Shishya tradition, I follow a structured yet flexible methodology. Lessons typically begin with alankars, sargam practice, and voice training exercises to strengthen pitch and control. As students progress, I introduce raga-based learning through bandish, along with improvisation techniques like alaap, taan, and bol-alap. I also emphasize listening skills, pronunciation, and emotional expression, which are essential for truly understanding Hindustani classical music.
Along with regular practice guidance and feedback, I help students prepare for performances, competitions, and music examinations. My strength lies in building a strong foundation while nurturing each student’s unique voice and musical identity. I combine the depth of traditional training with a clear, methodical approach, ensuring that students not only learn the technique but also connect with the soul of the music.
