About

I am a seasoned professional musician with 9 years of experience teaching guitar to all levels of students - from complete beginners to university-level jazz players.  I currently teach in-person at Lake Highlands School of Music in Dallas, where I've had a full roster of students 4 days a week for several years now.

I've also played all over DFW for the last 11 years - from private events to clubs like Balcony Club, Reveler's Hall, Trees, Three Links, RBC, and Wild Detectives in Dallas, Rubber Gloves, Andy's, and Hailey's in Denton, and Lola's and Twilite Lounge in Fort Worth.  I have direct experience in band settings with jazz, fusion, blues, alternative rock, punk rock, classic rock, gospel, modern classical, you name it.  I've even done musical work - including productions of Grease and Spongebob SquarePants: The Broadway Musical in 2021.

I like to teach on a practical level as much as a theoretical one.  When we explore music theory, it's with direct application on the instrument - in other words, in ways that are directly relevant to playing.  The same goes for technique - I focus on practical technique, purely as a means for achieving a certain type of sound.  I like to work with my students when it comes to what that sound (in other words, style) is.  Any particular student might be interested in alternative rock, blues, country music, jazz, classical guitar, progressive rock, metal, you name it!  And I teach it all.  My specialty lies with jazz.
