PIANO: All ages. Beginners to Advanced Intermediate (grade 6) All styles. As solo and accompaniment instrument.
UKULELE: All ages. Beginners to Advanced (grade 3). I mainly use this instrument as accompaniment as I am a singer first, but I cover melodic solo pieces for ukulele too, including music literacy.
RECORDER: All ages. Beginners to Advanced (grade 4). All styles-traditional music, classical music-favourite songs.
Tin Whistle: Beginners to Advanced (grade3) -Traditional and popular songs
VOICE: All ages. Beginners to Advanced Intermediate (grade 6). All styles, I have studied classical, musical theatre, jazz and Gregorian chant. I also enjoy popular and traditional music-happy to follow students goals.
GUITAR: 8 years and up. Beginners. Focus on using the instrument as an accompaniment rather than solo. This is due to the organic way I learned. I was a singer first so I tend to use it as an accompaniment instrument. The lessons would include basic chordal accompaniment, riffs, and useful/adaptable patterns.
I have no one strict way of working, I believe there is no 'one shoe fits all' when it comes to teaching and motivating my students, so I have a tailored approach for each student. This means I take your strengths and areas of weakness into account and monopolize upon your strengths to further your music education, confidence and develop areas where you need further support.
I am an excellent music teacher with 8+ years teaching experience; ; piano, voice, ukulele, guitar, recorder, composition, improvisation, general musicianship and music theory. I adopt a student-led approach tailoring my lessons to the individual, students ranging from toddlers to adults. I am happy to support students in whatever their goals may be, whether its performance, songwriting, a specific piece, experimentation through improvisations, or grade / exam preparation ABRSM/RIAM/LCM/VCM/Trinity. I am also a Board Certified Music Therapist so I also have a wealth of experience working with children and adults with additional and varied complex needs, this means I can tailor and adapt lessons as appropriate. I majored in Composition as part of my Music Degree so I enjoy arranging music for my students, adapting pieces to their level. My aim is to nurture a students love for music and support them in meeting their best potential. I want the lessons to be fun, engaging, motivational and inspiring.
I have a Diploma in classical singing. I have grade 8 piano and I am self-taught on the recorder, guitar, ukulele. I love teaching music, and I know myself how rewarding it can be to attend music lessons. I believe it is so important to find the right fit for student, so I always do a trial lesson and trial period before we agree on fixed term with student. This ensures both are happy and comfortable with the fit moving forward.
