Nihar Paranjpe
About
Nihar Paranjpe, a disciple of Ustad Zakir Hussain and Pandit Swapan Chaudhari, brings forth a multi-traditional view of tabla to his playing and teaching style. Nihar has performed for the last 15 years, touring in the U.S. and abroad, giving concerts in both solo and accompaniment.
Teaching Style
Nihar's passion is teaching, guiding and advising and he has a very hands on approach. He enjoys teaching children particularly as he caters his teaching methods to each and every student's learning style. Nihar believes that theory is important but practical approach is even more important. Being able to replicate a given musical segment or rhythm and play it over and over is critical in a student's improvement.
Curriculum
1. Basic strokes and identification of tabla sounds.
2. Learning new phrases and combinations of phrases to practice.
3. Learning "Taal"- basic concept of rhythmic patterns alongside compositions in that taal.
4. Application of those patterns into tabla accompaniment and tabla solo.
5. Preparation for giving tabla concert/applying to local music.
