About

I am currently a theatre and movement teacher at a public school in Manhattan in District 75. I work with students with special needs at the middle and high school level. I began my career as a classroom teacher in District 75 and moved into this position for the last couple of years. I hold Bachelor's Degree in General Education at the Elementary level as well as a Master's Degree in Special Education. I also have extension focused in Autism as well as a degree in School Leadership. I spent three weeks post Master's work studying Drama in Education in London. I was also awarded a scholarship to work with the Folger Company in conjunction with New York's English Speaking Union to learn how to teach Shakespeare to students. I have also written two articles on instructional practices for teachers for the UFT Newspaper's Teacher to Teacher column. Outside of work, I love to go see Broadway shows (both musicals and straight plays). I am very inspired and motivated my music, of all genres and enjoy dance and pilates. I enjoy experiencing all the things Manhattan has to offer, especially its vast history (yes, I can be a bit of a history nerd). I believe that it is important to nourish your mind with both knowledge, the arts, and life experience.

I believe that in order for students to truly learn we need to support their individual needs while incorporating areas of interest within the content being taught. When you make learning fun, students feel more successful and are more willing to work and in turn learn more.
