Nino Ochigava

Georgian flutist who started playing flute at age 15. Before that, she was studying classical piano and took singing classes at Tbilisi Z.Paliashvili Central Music School. As soon as she changed the main instrument she explored orchestral music. Since 2013 she actively collaborated with various orchestras and chamber groups. Since 2019-Present she has been a flutist of the Pan-Caucasian youth orchestra. She officially joined the Giya Kancheli Youth Orchestra in 2021 as a principal flute.

Nino got various scholarships from different organizations and projects. She participated twice in the Erasmus exchange program (2016/17 Norwegian Academy of Music and 2022 Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre), she was fully sponsored by the government of Culture in Georgia and Saline Royale Academy to participate in intense recording sessions and masterclasses with legendary maestro Davide Formisano. In February 2023 she was fully funded by Creative Europe for Fame's European Orchestra Institute in Skopje where she had the honor to work with composer Gabriel Prokofiev and get a part in recording his new CD at Fames project studio in Macedonia, Skopje.

Since 2010, Nino worked as a guest musician with orchestras such as Georgian, Tbilisi Symphony Orchestra, Georgian Symphonies, Alter Orchestra, Pärnu City Orchestra, Minsk Camerata, Norwegian Academy Orchestra, øvings Orchestra in Oslo, etc. took part in festivals and seminars such are International flute seminars in Bruges, the Tsinandali Festival, the Tbilisi Wind Festival, the Tbilisi Baroque Festival, the Tbilisi Guitar Festival, the Telavi International Classical Music Festival, Toradze Music Festival, Oslo opera weeks. Her orchestral experience includes such conductors as are: Gianandrea Noseda, Lahav Shani, Vasily Petrenko, Charles Dutoit, Manfred Honeck, Ariel Tsukerman,Olivier Dejours, Etienne Abelin and etc.

Music is not her only interest. She creates creative content and is interested in videography, design, paints, and photography

My teaching method for playing the flute recognizes that it is a complex skill, and each student will have their own unique way of learning and progressing. I believe in tailoring my approach to meet the individual needs and learning styles of each student. By understanding their strengths, weaknesses, interests, and goals, I can customize my teaching techniques to optimize their learning experience.

Rather than adopting a one-size-fits-all approach, I take into account various factors such as the student's musical background, physical abilities, preferred learning strategies, and personal motivations. This allows me to create a personalized lesson plan that is both challenging and enjoyable for the student.

I emphasize a holistic approach to flute playing, encompassing technique, musicality, expression, and performance skills. I provide a supportive and nurturing environment where students feel encouraged to explore and experiment with their playing, while also offering constructive feedback and guidance to help them overcome challenges and achieve their full potential.

In essence, my teaching philosophy revolves around recognizing and celebrating the uniqueness of each student, while providing them with the tools, resources, and support they need to succeed in their flute studies.
