About
Hi! I'm a professional flutist and flute/improvisation teacher with 9 years of teaching experience. I have a bachelor's degree in jazz performance from the Jerusalem Academy of Music, where I also studied composition.
For me, music is about being creative and expressing feelings. This is why I studied jazz, an improvisation-oriented genre. Over the past 10 years I have played in world music ensembles, folk, pop, and even Klezmer bands, and found improvisation in those genres to be immensely enjoyable as well. I love sharing my knowledge and expertise with students!
Teaching Style
I am a strong believer in everyone's ability to be creative and improvise. I teach practical skills based on very clear music theory which can help anyone imrovise music over his or her favorite song's accompaniment. I send custom accompaniment midi files to students for them to work on at home and during lessons. My teaching is always tailored to the specific needs and abilities of the student.
Improvisation lessons are suited for intermediate students who have mastered the basic skills of playing their instrument.
For beginners, I have a very clear and effective method of helping students to develop good tone on the flute, and usually work on developing technique through playing the student's favorite music - may that be pop, classical, or (almost) anything else.
My lessons are most suitable for adults (17+), but there always may be exceptions.
Curriculum
Improvisation lesson materials include midi accompaniment files as well as PDF charts of the songs being worked on.
