About
Nuria joined the Kwazulu-Natal Philharmonic Orchestra in Durban (South Africa) as Principal Oboe in 2012. She holds a Master's Degree in Oboe Performance from the International School of Music Reina Sofia in Madrid (2010), Spain and from the International University of Andalucía (2011). She also holds a Master's Degree in Chamber Music Performance from the International Institute of Chamber Music by Albéniz Foundation in Madrid (2010).
Nuria has played concerts around the world in Europe, USA, Africa and Asia as Principal Oboe of the Kwazulu-Natal Philharmonic Orchestra, Schleswig-Holstein Orchestra, European Union Chamber Orchestra and Ossiach Academy Orchestra hosted by the Berlin and Vienna Philharmonics.
At the International School of Music Reina Sofia she had the privilege of studying oboe and English Horn with Hansjörg Schellenberger, Maurice Bourgue, David Walter, Christian Schmitt, Celia Nicklin, Ernest Rombout, Dominique Wollenweber, Jeròme Guichard, Alex Klein, Ingo Goritzki, Stefan Schilli, Andreas Wittmann, Albrecht Mayer and Thomas Indermühle.
While in the International Institute of Chamber Music, Nuria had the honor of learning from Klaus Thunemann, Sergio Azzolini, Jacques Zoon, Michel Arrignon, Radovan Vlatkovic, Tom Kraus, William Christie, Kennedy Moretti, Hermann Baumann, Dale Clevenger, Felix Renggli, Paul Meyer, Radek Baborak and Stefan Schweigert.
Nuria holds a postgraduate in Oboe Performance from the High Conservatory of Music of Zaragoza (2011). While there she studied with oboist Lucas Macías Navarro.
Her Bachelor's Degree, also in Oboe Performance, is from the Royal Conservatory of Music of Madrid, Spain (2009).
Nuria has extensive experience teaching privately, in Schools and Conservatories. She holds a Master's Degree in Musical Education from the International University of La Rioja, Spain (2016).
I normally work with each student personally in order to analyze, understand and resolve playing issues from both technical and artistic perspectives. Based on this pedagogical style, my aim as a teacher is giving the students the tools and resources to be able to work, play and progress independently in the future.
