About

Omar Murillo is a musician living in Bakersfield California. He is currently attending California State University, Bakersfield to complete his BA in music with plans to attend CalArts for a graduate degree in music composition and performance.

Teaching Style

I have worked with various artists while attending CSU, Bakersfield. Among them are Jeremiah Lloyd Harmon, The Soul Chance, I.A.H.R.Q. and many other groups in both live and studio recording settings. To bring the best out of students with time and in depth exploration of music and music styles along with critical thinking is the approach I take.

Curriculum

For Trombone Students: Essential Elements for Trombone (Beginners), Max Schlossberg Daily Routine for the Trombone, Patterns for Jazz, Real Book Vol. 1&2.

For Orchestration, Composing, and Arranging Students: The Study of Orchestration (Alder, Samuel) or Orchestration (Samuel Piston), and Access to a library with Music Scores.
