About

Hi! My name is Parker Sundby; I am a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and record producer.  I graduated from Berklee College of Music in 2022 where I studied Guitar Performance, Production, and Songwriting.  I have also been performing on drums since I was 11 years old.  I spend most of my time nowadays writing and producing music, whether it's on my own or in collaboration with other artists.  My artist name is Parker Sun on all streaming platforms.  I recently finished a 30+ show regional tour playing both keyboard and guitar with top ten Voice finalist Rowan Grace.  We were able to share the stage with Lady Antebellum, Megan Moroney, Sawyer Brown, and Neil McCoy in performances all over the midwest.  It is a true passion of mine to share what knowledge I've gained from school, shows, and life to help encourage and inspire others to have fun and create with music.

In between performing and recording, I've held private lessons on a variety on instruments and topics out of my home studio.  I've covered guitar, drums, keyboard, and bass guitar techniques as well as broader music theory, harmony, songwriting, and production.  I love to teach songwriting with Logic Pro X; together we can write and record a song from scratch.  I love to teach students and have given lessons to musicians between the ages of 8 and 60.  I focus on creativity, inspiration, and making students feel connected to the instrument with improvisation techniques in addition to learning compositions.  To every lesson I bring the material I’ve learned from my professors and peers at Berklee, years of performance experience, and the commitment to upholding the following goals:

I want to give the energy to artists that makes them feel like they can try anything without judgment.  To be the encouragement, the safety net in which there’s no failing.  I will be someone artists can trust.

Wherever I go, I want to be able to create the open space that allows for creative thought.

I never want to lose curiosity or the willingness to learn and try something different!

B.A., Berklee College of Music

Though every student has a different path, I have several foundational tools we can use to learn together to help develop vocabulary, feel, and fluidity.  In addition to Berklee Audition Preparation , I can offer the direct materials that will help you succeed with Ensemble Ratings and advance further once you're admitted.

-For students interested in drumming, I reccomend Haskell Harr's Drum Method as well as Keith Reichelt's Art of Rock Drumming.

-Songwriters should check out Writing Better Lyrics by Pat Pattison
