About

I am a tutor, teacher, learning coach, trainer and counselor with 15+ years of experience and bachelor's and master's degrees that span the areas of Spanish, French, Literature and Counseling.  I received a B.A. in Spanish and French from the University of Richmond, a M.A. in French Literature from Duke University, and a Master of Education in Counseling from North Carolina State University. In addition to teaching foreign language and literature, I have also taught K-8 reading, writing and mathematics and have traveled and worked abroad.  I enjoy helping students find joy and meaning in learning and achieving their goals, whether it is a school requirement or a passionate interest.

Teaching Style

I follow the lead of the student, by assessing learning styles, interests and special talents and facilitate the learning process by engaging the student so that they may take charge of their own learning process, gain confidence, learn new study skills, and excel with the specific learning objectives.  I also assist the student in understanding their own unique learning style so that they may generalize our tutoring process to other learning situations.
