Hi, I’m Peder, a ukulele and guitar teacher from Norway. I love helping beginners get started in a way that feels simple, enjoyable, and motivating.
I know that many beginners can feel overwhelmed at first, so my goal is to make learning feel clear, manageable, and encouraging. In lessons, we can work on chords, strumming, rhythm, fingerstyle basics, and songs you enjoy, always at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
I teach in both English and Norwegian, and I especially enjoy working with beginners, adult beginners, and returning players who want friendly guidance and a strong musical foundation.
Alongside my teaching, I also create learning materials such as chord charts, tabs, and visual resources to support the learning process.
Whether you are picking up the ukulele for the first time or returning to guitar after a break, I’ll help you move forward step by step.
Teaching Style
My teaching style is calm, supportive, and practical. I want students to feel comfortable, encouraged, and motivated from the very beginning.
I know that learning an instrument can sometimes feel overwhelming, especially for beginners, so I focus on making each lesson clear and easy to follow. I break things down into small steps and adjust the pace to fit each student’s level and goals.
In my lessons, I try to combine structure with enjoyment. We work on the skills you need — such as chords, rhythm, strumming, fingerstyle basics, and song playing — while also making sure the process feels rewarding and inspiring.
My goal is not only to help you improve, but also to help you enjoy learning and build confidence as a musician.
Curriculum
My teaching method is practical, clear, and student-focused. I help students build a strong foundation through step-by-step work on chords, rhythm, strumming, fingerstyle basics, and songs.
I adapt lessons to each student’s level, pace, goals, and musical interests. I regularly use chord charts, tablature, simple notation, and my own teaching materials in lessons to make learning easier to understand and apply.
Students do not need a specific method book before starting. I can recommend suitable materials based on the student’s needs and interests.
Credentials & Affiliations
I studied guitar at Agder University College (Høgskolen i Agder) in Kristiansand, Norway, from 1995 to 2000, where I completed a Diploma in Music Education (Guitar).
I have 30 years of teaching experience in guitar and ukulele, including one-to-one teaching, online teaching through my own platform onlinegitar, and teaching work at Oslo Private Music School, Sandøya Montessori School, and as a substitute teacher at Porsgrunn School of Music and Performing Arts.
Alongside my teaching work, I have also been active as a performing musician. I perform my own music under the name Peder Åmland, with concerts and releases available on Bandcamp. I have also previously performed and released music with the folk-rock band Wolf Moon Fever.
