Peter Schmoll

Peter Schmoll is a multi-genre guitarist based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. In the Toronto independent scene, Peter has developed a reputation as a compelling musician, marrying improvisation and jazz principles with rock and roll song-craft. As leader of Niagara rock and roll outfit The Kerouacs, Peter has toured throughout Canada extensively and recorded three studio albums.
Peter is currently earning his bachelors degree in jazz guitar at the renowned Humber College School of Creative and Performing Arts in Toronto.
My goal is that my students have the tools they need to progress as musicians. Whether that includes digging into the moving parts of harmony and music theory, or just learning to play their favorite songs, we will develop a learning plan based on the specific needs of each student and aim for better musicianship with each lesson. I don't mind teaching out of the book if necessary, but I much prefer communicating musical concepts by, well, playing music. If we can learn the deeper principles of music by practicing a great guitar solo or strumming along to a great tune rather than spending every lesson in a theory book, that's what we'll do.
