About

Hi, I'm Peter and I'm a professional opera singer, singing teacher and vocal coach. I have over 25 years experience as a teacher and a soloist in the top opera houses of Europe including Teatro alla Scala Milan, Royal Opera House Covent Garden, English National Opera, Welsh National Opera, Scottish Opera, Edinburgh International Festival, Royal Albert Hall London, Theatre Royal de la Monnaie Brussels, De Nederlanse Opera Amsterdam, Salzburg Festival, Berlin Philharmonic, National Theatre Budapest, Royal Concertgebouw Amsterdam also in Paris, Nice, Munich and Venice.
I have worked in concerts and broadcasts with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, Deutsche Symphony Orchestra, BBC Symphony Orchestra BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
I have done many recordings and broadcasts for radio and television and have been a recording artist for Decca and Guild records and Opus Arte video.

I have also been teaching since 1990 so have a vast amount of experience in what students require and how best to empower them to fulfill their goal.

I was lucky enough to study and sing with many of the great teachers and singers of the 20th century and it is my honour to pass on this craft to others.

I teach a fundamental "classical" technique which focuses on breathing, vocal placement and control. This has helped me for my varied career but is also a tried and tested method that is over 200 years old.

I focus on the individual student and make sure that it is their voice that is the starting point for all lessons. You are the most important person in the lesson and it is your own voice that we work together on to make it the best it can be.

My method is suitable for all styles of singing including opera and song, musical theatre/broadway and rock/popular/gospel/worship repertoire.

I teach all levels from beginners to fellow professionals and all ages from teens to mature seniors.

Fundamentally though it is about fun, enjoyment and the immense reward that comes from just relaxing and singing.

I use a combination of bespoke vocal exercises and study repertoire that differs depending on the student, their level and the style they want to sing.

This allows flexibility to focus on both the student's current abilities and what areas of the voice, breath or interpretation the student needs.

I always encourage my students to listen to a wide variety of styles and different singers but rather than focusing on the music or the words I help students to really hear how the singer is using their voice and the techniques they are utilising.
