Curriculum
I specialize in using the Aaron Book series to teach music, which provides a structured and comprehensive approach suitable for students of various ages and skill levels. My teaching method is grounded in fostering a strong foundation while nurturing creativity and musical expression. Here's an overview of my approach:
-
Fundamentals First: We start with fundamental concepts such as reading music notation, understanding rhythm, and mastering basic techniques. This establishes a solid groundwork for more complex musical skills.
-
Sequential Learning: The Aaron Book series progresses sequentially, ensuring that students build upon their knowledge gradually. Each lesson introduces new concepts while revisiting previous ones, reinforcing learning.
-
Hands-On Practice: I encourage active learning through hands-on practice. Students engage with the instrument early on, applying theoretical knowledge to practical playing.
-
Structured Repertoire: The Aaron Book series offers a diverse selection of pieces that cover different musical styles. We explore classical and contemporary pieces, developing a well-rounded musical repertoire.
-
Ear Training and Theory: Alongside playing, we incorporate ear training and basic music theory. This helps students develop aural skills and understand the underlying principles of music.
-
Creative Expression: As students progress, I encourage creative expression. We explore interpretation, dynamics, and stylistic variations, allowing students to infuse their unique musical personality into their playing.
-
Goal-Oriented Learning: I set clear goals for each student, tailored to their aspirations. Whether it's performing in a recital, mastering a specific technique, or composing their own music, we work together to achieve these goals.
-
Regular Assessment: Periodic assessments help track progress and identify areas for improvement. This ensures that learning remains targeted and effective.
