About

With over a decade of experience as both a soloist and collaborative pianist, I bring to my teaching a unique blend of artistry, versatility, and a deep understanding of how musicians grow. My performance career has taken me to concert halls across the US, China, and Italy, from symphonic halls to opera houses, and includes collaborations with orchestras and choirs.

I hold a Bachelor’s degree from China, a Master’s in Piano Performance and Collaborative Piano from Boston Conservatory at Berklee, and I completed my Doctoral of Musical Arts in Collaborative Piano and Coaching at the University of Minnesota. My teaching and coaching experience includes positions at the university level, including Xinghai Conservatory and Ithaca College.

I am passionate about working with students of all ages and backgrounds, helping them build strong technique, expressive artistry, and the confidence to perform with joy.

Teaching Style

My teaching style is supportive, flexible, and tailored to each student’s unique needs. I believe in meeting students where they are and helping them grow step-by-step, whether their goal is to master fundamentals, prepare for performances, or simply enjoy making music.

Curriculum

My lessons are tailored to each student’s goals, level, and musical background. For beginners, I focus on building a strong technical foundation through clear, step-by-step instruction, while also keeping lessons engaging and enjoyable. For intermediate and advanced students, I emphasize musical interpretation, stylistic awareness, and effective practice strategies.

I believe that learning music should balance discipline and creativity. I encourage students to develop healthy practice habits, listen actively, and think critically about the music they play. When working with singers or other instrumentalists, I integrate score study, ensemble skills, and communication techniques to prepare students for confident and expressive performances.
