About

With over 10 years teaching experience in private schools, Quinn excels in working with a wide variety of learners, including ADHD, ASD, OCD, anxiety, depression, epilepsy, and other learning differences, mental health disorders, and chronic illnesses which may affect learning or school attendance. She has taught students one-on-one, in small groups, typical class settings, and online. Quinn received her BA in Chemistry from Agnes Scott College, where she was awarded the Analytical Chemistry Award. She has taught in both the Washington, DC and Atlanta, GA areas. She has created curriculum for both science and math, tailoring the curriculum to the school and individual students.

Quinn understands people learn best when they feel supported and understood. She prioritizes the relationship so students feel safe to take academic risks. She also believes all students are capable of learning, given time and support. Finding the right supports can be tricky, but she does not give up until she finds the tools or explanations which best serve the student.

Quinn teaches best when she can engage the student, asking them questions instead of giving answers. This method of asking questions enables her to identify exactly what a student knows, and she builds from there. Students are rewarded and celebrated for what they are capable of doing instead of penalized for what they cannot. When possible, Quinn incorporates student interest into  explanations to increase student engagement. In the past, she has used Pokemon to discuss taxonomy, Oompa Loompas to teach genetics, and the Olympics to teach systems of equations.
