About
R. Wesley Carr is an award winning multi-instrumentalist, composer, and songwriter. He was the winner of the 2019 National Mandolin Championships as well as the 2020 NewSong Songwriting showcase (vocal category), and the 2023 NewSong Songwriting Showcase (instrumental category). His unique background creates an uncommon level of virtuosity and flexibility in both his performances and his teaching.
Wes Has studied with classical and jazz guitar virtuoso, Fareed Haque at Northern Illinois before finishing his music degree at East Tennessee State where he studied with 5-time Grammy winning mandolinist, Adam Steffey.
With over 10 years of teaching experiance, Wes has created a strong and organized method to make sure that you can be succesful in whatever instrument you hope to learn!
My teaching method is relaxed and geared toward the students goals. In our first lesson, I spend time getting to know what the student hopes to accomplish or improve. From there, we create a lesson plan specifically designed to the student.
