Regina Boto
About
My name is Regina Boto. I received my Bachelor of Music degree in Music Therapy from Elizabethtown College. I continued my studies in Music Therapy and completed a Master of Arts degree in Music Therapy from Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College. I have an extensive teaching background and have been teaching piano and guitar for over 10 years. I have taught both privately and in music schools. I also have training in early childhood music learning and have extensive experience working with young children to enhance their learning abilities through music.
I am also active in my career as a music therapist and have worked with a variety of populations using improvisational techniques, song-writing, music instruction, and group music playing to effect change on physical, emotional, and cognitive levels. I have also received additional training in improvisation for use in music therapy and music teaching.
Teaching Style
I rely on my skills as a music therapist to enhance my teaching skills. I aim to make my teaching style match the needs of each individual student, through adapting the music, identifying new ways to teach material, or modifying the way a lesson is taught. I am also equipped to teach students with special needs. I believe in encouraging students to ask questions if they are unsure of the material, and in giving them choices with respect to the music they learn. Learning to play an instrument is a skill that stays with you throughout your lifetime. Nurturing a students' love for music is the core tenet of my teaching philosophy.
