About

I have played classical music since three years old. I have taken over 500 lessons myself.  I started on violin but switched to viola in high school.  I now have many years experience with both.   I have found that many violinists tend to stick to classical or fiddle.  I am very different.  I have experience with many different types of music.  In the last 15 years I have played in a number of Rock, Country, and Jazz bands.  I have also written two rock albums.  If you need help with composing, theory, and improvisation I am very comfortable teaching those as well.

I typically take my students through the Suzuki books working on classical music.  This allows the student to learn their technique and attention to detail. But when they are ready, I am very comfortable showing them improvisation and how to play non-classical music.  The student will learn how to sight read as well as learn to play by ear.  In my opinion, advancing your skills is the best way to ensure that the student continues playing, I also understand that a drill sargent is no fun for anyone.  We try to have fun in lessons as well!

I have a B.A. in Music Education from Wichita State University
I am a 3 time Kansas All-State Orchestra Member
I was selected to play at the opening of the Kaufman Center in Kansas City
I was asked to perform for Missouri Governor Jay Nixon at the Capital
