About
I am an Ohio based, professional & self-taught artist. I have been creating artwork for over 50 years using various mediums; Oil, Watercolor, Pastels, Acrylics, Ink, and Clay. My artwork is inspired by my family, dogs, horses and life events. Imagination and life in general continued to inspire throughout my school days. At age 13, I was the youngest student to attend a special art class held at the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana, where I stayed at Allerton House. I later started showing in juried fine art shows bringing home Mayoral awards, First Place, Ribbons and money awards. Certificates are a great way to show your accomplishments in art , but not my inspiration. I have painted on different "canvases", from automobiles, wall murals, to fine art shows. I have taught private and class room students from the age of 11 as the youngest to the age of 83. I held classes in my studio and also a store front.
Teaching Style
I try to provide the student with confidence in their own styles and mediums. I find it important to allow the freedom to express within each student. When a student doesn't feel "right" with the certain style then I guide the student to try different methods. I encourage each student because there are many ways to express and each person is different. To build the confidence is to open their abilities.
Curriculum
When I teach painting, I teach the student to mix their own paints instead of buying 50 different tubes of paint. I do not use text books. When drawing I teach the student to use what is comfortable for them and to use different pencils and/or charcoal, whether purchased or made.
Credentials & Affiliations
I am listed in Who's Who in the Arts for 2022-2023 in two editions.
