About
I am a violin teacher with 16 years of musical training and experience in solo and orchestral performance. I love teaching and have taught ages 7-20+.
I'm a Senior Violin Major at the University of South Alabama, and a member of the USA Honors College. During my time in school I have been a member of the USA Orchestra, String Ensemble, and Celtic Ensemble.
In addition to independent private lessons, I have served as a violin and viola instructor at the Blues Angel School of Music.
Over the years I have played in weddings, parties, formal concerts, jam sessions, and church bands. I enjoy playing a variety of styles of music, and am more than willing to assist students in learning whatever genres they wish to specialize in.
My teaching philosophy is that the enjoyment of music is the most important thing. After establishing an enjoyment of what we're doing, I will work with my students on repertoire and technique.
I recommend Essential Elements for Strings, Book 1 for beginners. More advanced players are welcome to bring me whatever they last worked on, and we will determine a course of action based on their preferences, skill level, and long-term goals.
