About

Sarah Aldiab is an experienced teacher of violin/fiddle and viola. She has taught all ages and many styles. Performing professionally for many years, Sarah has played in many classical ensembles, as well as in Celtic fiddle groups and in an electric rock string ensemble called Electria.

Sarah holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Performance from Eastern Kentucky University. She is an Orchestra Merit Award recipient and held the principal violist position in the EKU Symphony Orchestra. In addition, Sarah was elected president of the EKU Chapter of the American String Teachers' Association in 2013-2014, and was awarded a scholarship to travel to Italy to study music in the summer of 2015.

Sarah has studied Irish fiddle music under great masters such as Tommy Peoples and Kevin McKee. From a young age, she attended workshops at many Irish music festivals in the U.S., and even traveled to Ireland for four weeks to learn more. Sarah also had the honor of earning a scholarship position at the Governor's School for the Arts in high school to study viola and classical chamber music.

Sarah currently enjoys playing orchestral and chamber music, fiddle music, and collaborating with other musicians.

Teaching Style

Sarah has a calm and patient demeanor, and keeps lessons exciting and creative. She helps students create and achieve goals in their playing, motivating students for success. With a plethora of practice strategies, Sarah is able to help players overcome hindrances.  Sarah has experience teaching with the Suzuki method, Essential Elements, Solos for Young Violinists/Violists, Wolfhart and Shradieck for etude studies, Applebaum for shifting practice, the O'Connor Method, the Craig Duncan method, and learning by ear.

Sarah loves seeing students excited about playing music.  As her students progress and explore their musical interests, they find the same joy in playing that brought Sarah to music. Sarah encourages anyone considering music lessons to give them a try. You have so much to gain from learning to play a musical instrument!
