About

Hi! I am a piano teacher and pianist from Thessaloniki, Greece. I got my MMus in piano performance at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, UK (2014) and my BMus in piano performance at the University of Macedonia, Greece (2006).

I have been teaching in private since 2002 and at music schools and corsevatories from 2008. I have performed at various venues and concert halls in Greece and the UK.

I have participated in various competitions and was a finalist in the 2013 EPTA UK Piano competition in the Advanced IV category..I also did get 2nd place in the 1st Composition and Performance Competition, of the Department of Music Science and Art, University of Macedonia and the Music Department of Ionian University (2005).

While I was still an undergraduate student, I would frequently perform with Greek traditional bands.

As the years passed, I focused more on teaching, working with people from different age groups, from elementary school kids, to people in their thirties who just wanted to have fun trying new things. Some of my students have had success, performing in various occasions, ranging from piano classes recitals to piano competitions.

I remain active pianistically and love to perform music from many different eras and styles. While I love a piano sonata by Scarlatti, I certainly have come to adore music composed by modern Japanese composers (anime or video-game music included!). I also love Spanish piano music, Chopin, Rachmaninoff and Ravel.

As far as piano teaching is concerned, I am devoted to helping my students grow artistically through their own musical understanding and in their own pace, always trying to find new ways to make each lesson special and fulfilling, practice methods more interesting and effective and performing most enjoyable.

I strongly believe that any music lesson has to have a structure that can be adjust to every student's needs. It should be divided in: Warm-up 5', 10 minute sessions for each piece and, if possible, improvisation for advanced students.

What I find very crucial for every student's development is to learn how to practise. Most of the time people do not know how to work on their own and expect everything to happen during a 45 minute lesson, which is not realistic. They should instead be encouraged and taught to be able to be efficient on their own time practising.  In other words, to become self-sufficient and develop their music personality in time.
