About

Since my adolescence, the arts have been my refuge and passion, with music as my deepest form of expression. As a graduate in Artistic Education from the Universidad Distrital Francisco José de Caldas in Bogotá, I've specialized in the violin, a lifelong companion for over a decade. During college, I joined the SEMUS (Semillero de Aproximaciones Prácticas a la Música Sinfónica) research group, enhancing my knowledge of music and violin-related elements. Exploring various musical genres and participating in symphonic projects has been a privilege. Additionally, I was a violinist in the education-music fusion group, Aulalibre.

In my decade-long violin journey, I've assisted colleagues and my students in technical and interpretative aspects, inspired by pedagogues like Dalcroze and Orff. My education and practical experience led me to create dynamic learning environments, integrating movement, creativity, and sensory experiences. As a teacher at Colegio Taller Psicopedagógico Los Andes and Colegio Nuevo Chile, I've encouraged musical exploration and unconventional approaches. My goal remains igniting curiosity and passion for music in every student.

Furthermore, I've pursued advanced training through courses at SENA (Servicio Nacional de Aprendizaje de Colombia), which include:

Special Course in Advanced Musical Harmony.
Special Course in Fundamentals of Vocal Technique.
Special Course in Musical Ear Training.

In conclusion, my educator's journey intertwines with my violin artistry, fostering exploration, growth, and musical discovery. Teaching transcends notes; it's about inspiring through art and nurturing a love for music. Classes will be conducted in Spanish.

Throughout my career as a musical performer, I have participated in a diverse array of musical projects, including performances with orchestra, marching bands and local choirs. Furthermore, I have expanded my musical and artistic horizons by exploring various instruments, such as guitar, piano, cuatro, and percussion. I have been involved in artistic projects that involve researching and exploring the potential of the violin as a culturally active instrument.

My teaching approach is rooted in fostering a supportive and encouraging environment where students feel empowered to explore their musical potential. I believe in tailoring my lessons to the individual needs and interests of each student, recognizing that every learner is unique. Through a combination of structured instruction and creative exploration, I strive to instill a deep appreciation for music while nurturing technical proficiency and artistic expression. I emphasize active engagement and hands-on learning, encouraging students to experiment, take risks, and discover their own musical voice. Additionally, I prioritize the development of essential skills such as music theory, ear training, and performance techniques, equipping students with a comprehensive musical foundation that empowers them to pursue their musical aspirations with confidence and enthusiasm.

Teaching Method:

In developing my teaching methodology, I integrate the expertise of distinguished violin pedagogues such as Carl Flesch, Tibor Varga, and the innovative teaching approach of Shinichi Suzuki, while also incorporating the systematic exercises of Schradieck's "School of Violin Technics." By synthesizing these influential methods, I strive to provide students with a comprehensive and well-rounded violin education. From Suzuki's philosophy of nurturing musical talent from a young age to Flesch's emphasis on technical mastery and Varga's insights into advanced techniques, my approach aims to cultivate both technical proficiency and musical artistry in students of all levels.

Recommended Student Texts:

For students embarking on their violin journey, I highly recommend exploring materials from the Suzuki Violin School series alongside Schradieck's "School of Violin Technics." Suzuki's repertoire selections and teaching strategies lay a strong foundation for beginners, fostering ear training, memorization, and ensemble playing skills. Additionally, Schradieck's systematic exercises provide invaluable opportunities for technical development, focusing on areas such as finger dexterity, bowing control, and intonation. By incorporating these essential texts into their studies, students can build a solid technical foundation and develop the skills necessary for musical expression and interpretation.
