Saxophone, Music Theory

About

I am currently pursuing a Master's Degree in Saxophone Performance at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. Prior to this, I lived and studied in Malaysia, where I obtained my bachelor's degree and taught private saxophone lessons to students of various ages, as well as coached saxophone sections at local middle and high schools. My performing experience includes playing in symphony orchestras, wind bands and saxophone ensembles and professional, semi-professional and community levels. I also hold a Grade 8 saxophone certificate from the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM).

I strongly believe in the power of music to enrich lives as a form of enjoyment while also serving as a tool to develop useful life habits! I am passionate about helping you on your own musical journey. Whatever the level, age, and purpose of your music learning, I am here for you!

Whatever your goals may be, I will assist you in achieving them by providing a balance of fundamental technique development, musicianship guidance, and specific goal-oriented exercises. My teaching will be tailored specifically to each student, but I generally like to set tangible and realistic goals that give a sense of progress and accomplishment. I believe music learning must have a balance of fun and discipline, and I strive to create a positive and minimal-stress learning environment, where students are comfortable without the worry of making mistakes, and just be themselves!
