My name is Simone. I am a senior at the New England Conservatory in Boston, majoring in jazz trumpet and I have been playing the trumpet for 12 years. I studied with Mr Steve Emery and Mr John McNeil. I have experience playing live sets and also teaching. I am a jazz major but I have a little experience in classical as well. I have been working with little kids, middle and high school students and also adults that want to get into the trumpet playing. I can also teach music theory and bases for piano playing. I have been working as a tutor for many years, I have experience teaching music but also other subjects like Latin, Greek and Italian. I worked with all age groups: from little kids to middle and high school students and even young adults. I have done individual lessons but even small group sessions; at my school, NEC, I am a TA for the Theory class and I had to substitute the main teacher sometimes.
I study at the New England Conservatory in Boston; some of my teachers are Jason Palmer, Frank Carlberg, John McNeil, Steve Emery.
Depending on the level of the student I focus on different aspects: for a beginner of course breathing, basic sound production, posture...but for a more advanced player we can work on building a repertoire and more advanced technique. In general I reserve a part of the lesson to technique ( I select a several exercises from books that I have and I can pass to the students, such as Arban, Schlossberg or Clarke) and a part to the actual playing (studying a tune or working on improvisation for more advanced student). With kids I always like to put some exercises into games so that the lesson is as light as possible and they can have fun learning.
