I am an expert teacher and tutor with two decades of international experience. One of those decades has been spent tutoring students online and consulting tutoring companies on how to teach their students online. I am a High Distinction graduate of the University of California, Berkeley and my teaching has taken place in the classroom, face-to-face, online, and through content development. 

I have worked with some of the best schools and education companies in New York, London, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Istanbul. This includes preparing hundreds of students for Ivy League and Oxbridge admission, creating and teaching a specialized exam prep course at Columbia University, and tutoring students attending Eton and Harrow in the UK (where the Royal Family sends its children) and Brearley, Packer Collegiate, Saint Ann's, and other top schools in New York. The families of my former students include English and Czech titled families, American corporate pioneers, and some of the most successful entrepreneurs in Turkey. Over the last few years, I have also been the sole SAT prep provider for the International School of Prague - the largest, oldest, and most reputable international school in the Czech Republic. I also specialize in SAT Subject Math (Levels 1 & 2), all areas of the ACT, IB Math (SL & HL), AP Calculus (AB & BC), GMAT, GRE, GCSE, A-Levels and all academic math subjects up to and including Calculus.

In 20 years of 1-1 teaching, I've realized that the most important things to develop with my students are communication and empathy. I have worked on becoming a teacher that knows how to listen to and engage with my students, so I can understand not only their academic needs but also the greater needs that lay the groundwork for them to approach, assess, and solve other problems in life.

When I work with a student on a math or logic problem, I help him or her think critically, detect patterns, and break seemingly insurmountable problems into manageable steps -- providing the framework to tackle any challenge with logic, confidence, and success.

But none of this is possible without love for the subject you're teaching. Though I love teaching many things, I especially love teaching math -- I don't think there's a corner in middle or high school math I've left unexplored in my years of teaching. I not only strive to improve my skills as a teacher and my rapport with students, I actively think about and imagine new ways to teach, visualize and express math-related ideas. It's as much a personal and creative endeavor as it is a professional one.

My best qualification is my understanding of the students I work with. We work hard, we chat, we crack jokes, we build confidence and a lasting appreciation for learning. It’s professional and intensive, but it’s also fun. I can hardly count the number of students that have started enjoying math after our sessions and have had that Ah-ha! moment once they’ve realized it’s something interesting in of itself.
