About
My name is Sophie and over the past 7 years I have been a signed recording artist. I have released 3 albums, and I tour playing small venues across the country. I live in Nashville and play with my band and as a solo act.
I have played guitar for international touring acts Margo Cilker and Gabe Lee, as well as contributed background vocals to several recordings, including Gabe Lee's Drink the River and Lucinda Williams' Stories from a Rock n Roll Heart.
Teaching Style
I've been playing guitar for over 20 years. I specialize in fingerpicking and blues, folk, country and classic rock styles. I was taught early on through a listening- based approach, starting with what songs I wanted to learn and figuring out how to play them through carefully listening and sounding things out. I believe learning should be fun and tailored to each individual.
Curriculum
I recommend any chord book, to reference different chord voicings which can be extremely helpful. Also, having a circle of fifths chart nearby and getting familiar with it is highly recommended.
