About

I want you to learn the music you're excited about!  Instead of strict curriculum, I meet you where you're at and help you grow in the ways you want.  I love teaching all ages and backgrounds.  Preparing for an audition?  Just want to learn for fun?  Never touched a violin in your life or ever had a single music lesson? Let's connect so see if we're a good fit!

I started as that classic "Suzuki kid" at the age of 3, got my Bachelor of Music degree from UW-Milwaukee, received Suzuki teacher training in Suzuki Books 1-4, and did Mimi Zweig's week long string teacher intensive. Besides teaching, I perform and record regularly with Fretless Strings, Bowtime, Nine Worlds Ensemble, Electric 5, and occasionally with various orchestras. I've had the extreme pleasure of performing with the rock band Kansas, Peter Cetera from the rock group Chicago, Rod Stewart, Final Fantasy "Distant Worlds: Milwaukee" show, Doc Severinsen, Legend of Zelda: Symphony of the Goddesses, Riot Fest with That Dog, Trans-Siberian Orchestra, and Lollapalooza with Kygo. I've also had the privilege of recording music for Milwaukee Public Television as well as for Chicago-area composers and singer-songwriters.

Teaching Style

I teach students of all ages and love tailoring lessons to each individual. Music is personal and I want to make sure you're learning what you're interested in such as preparing for auditions or keeping up in groups you play in. While I always include fundamentals such as technique, ear training, and note reading, I also ask students for a list of music they're listening to or want to learn - nothing's off limits! We can even work on how to write out your favorite songs.

Curriculum

Suzuki, Traditional, or a blend of both! Before our first lesson, I try to find out what materials you might already have so you don't always need to purchase new ones.
